The Blue Dragonfly
I was shaving the dog.
I’d never done it before, but I thought,
“How hard can it be?”
It turned out to be much harder than I expected.
Safe to say…
Dog grooming is definitely not my calling.
While I was standing there, full of love and a few drops of sweat, my son walked into the patio.
“Mum… there’s a blue dragonfly above your head.”
I looked up.
And there she was.
A blue dragonfly.
She stayed just long enough to be seen.
Just long enough to remind me that life is always speaking.
Sometimes through the smallest moments.
Sometimes through nature.
Sometimes through what appears when we’re fully present.
The Energetic Meaning of the Dragonfly
The dragonfly is often seen as a symbol of transformation.
It reminds us that change doesn’t have to be heavy.
Just as the dragonfly moves effortlessly between air, water and light, we are invited to move through life’s transitions with more trust and less resistance.
Its shimmering wings reflect light from different angles, symbolizing the ability to see beyond appearances.
To look deeper. To recognize that reality often holds more than what is immediately visible.
The dragonfly also represents lightness.
Not as the absence of depth, but as the wisdom of carrying depth without becoming consumed by it.
It invites us to let go of what no longer belongs to us and to make space for something new.
For me, its appearance felt like a quiet reminder.
To stay open.
To keep noticing.
To trust that life is always communicating…
often in ways we least expect.
There’s so much more.
